Rivertap The Dalles, OR

A Restaurant Review

The Dalles is not known for it's many fancy restaurants but there are a few places in this town worth talking about. We really like Rivertap. Our last evening there was on a Thursday and that just happens to be Steak Night at the Rivertap. They even had live music later in the evening.

It was the first time we'd had steak there and it was really very good. These are reasonably priced steaks, well prepared and flavorful. They do a very nice job with side dishes here too. The menu is not large but has quite a bit of variety. There's a little something for everyone. We like the sweet potato fries with a side of garlic aoli, the burgers and the Caesar salad. As pub fare goes, this place is really yummy.

I'm not sure where I'd get a better steak in The Dalles.

We both like our steak medium rare to rare. This was just right for me. Juicy and tender , served with asparagus and fluffy mashed potatoes. You can't go wrong with the sides here.

For dessert we split the special of the night. One VERY large warm luscious brownie with vanilla ice cream. Oh Man! This was soooo good! Did I mention it was large? That brownie filled an entire large soup bowl.

Obviously this was not our first visit to Rivertap. We stop here occasionally but mostly for lunch. This was lunch one day as we were riding our motorcycle on another beautiful Columbia Gorge Motorcycle Trip.
