Higgins Restaurant and Bar is a lovely spot for a romantic night out in Portland. We happened to be in town to see An American in Paris at Keller Auditorium and finally got to experience dinner at Higgins. I had been wanting to dine here for ages and was not disappointed.
Bordering on true fine dining, this farm to table meal was a wonderful experience in local food and wine, well prepared and beautiful. The ambiance is cozy and upscale casual. The interior is full of warm wood and white linen and the servers are knowledgeable and attentive without hovering.
I had the fresh fish and my husband had braised lamb shank. Needless to say, everything was delicious! The chefs at Higgins have a passion for organic locally grown ingredients and it really shows in their fresh and artistic presentation.
We started the meal with a charcuterie board that was beautifully prepared, artful and yummy! We were hungry and jumped all over it so fast I didn't even get a picture. Sorry, what was I thinking?!
Isn't this beautiful! I'm not sure what happened to the picture of Superman's had the steak but rest assured it was beautiful too.
If you are looking for a romantic place to hang out before or after dinner, the bar looked very comfortable and inviting too. We had a musical we wanted to get to so we ordered an Uber and headed over to the Keller Auditorium. If the weather is good and you have plenty of time, Higgins is within walking distance of the theater.
The menu changes seasonally or as local farm produce allows so check the online menu before you go and it might be a bit different when you get there but whatever, it will be worth it!
